GRAVITONI
Others are felt.
A laboratory dedicated to the bottom end of sound: bass, sub-bass, acoustics, resonance, LFE, psychoacoustics and the science of low-frequency reproduction.
GRAVITONI.
Or perhaps
GRAVI TONI.
In physics, the graviton is the hypothetical quantum associated with gravity. In Italian, split the word differently and something else appears: gravi toni — low tones. Gravitoni lives precisely between those two worlds: physics and sound.
The lower we go,
the more interesting it gets.
Weight, fundamentals and the lower region of musical reproduction.
60–120 HzEnergy increasingly perceived physically as well as aurally.
20–60 HzThe extreme bottom octave of conventional audio reproduction.
20–40 HzBelow the conventional lower boundary of human hearing.
< 20 HzEverything that happens down there.
Acoustics
Wavelengths, room modes, resonances, boundaries and low-frequency behaviour.
Subwoofers
Placement, crossover, phase, calibration and integration with monitoring systems.
LFE
Low Frequency Effects, multichannel reproduction, cinema and immersive audio.
Production
Kick and bass relationships, synthesis, recording, mixing and mastering.
Psychoacoustics
Where hearing becomes sensation and sound begins to be perceived physically.
Measurement
Frequency response, phase, decay, room analysis and practical acoustic testing.
Measure.
Calculate.
Listen.
The universe
has gravity.
Music has bass.
Gravitoni.com is being developed as an independent Low Frequency Laboratory exploring the physics, engineering and perception of the lowest frequencies in sound.
